Stare at a wall. No external stimulus other than what’s around you. Just sit in your room and look around. Enjoy doing nothing and being bored. Allow what comes up to come up. Let it be what it is. Good for your brain.
Boil water, make yourself a hot tea, and then rest your face in the steam as you blow on it until it cools down. Enjoy warm steam.
Best if done on a cold day.
Take a shower. First step dry brush. From extremities to your heart. Ancient healing practice. If you really want to prove to your body and soul that you love them and care for yourself, do a second round - trust me on that one. Second step shower. When you wash your hair and body do it slowly. While putting in shampoo massage the scalp. Take deep breaths. Feel your body. Notice how you feel. Shower yoga (the mindset mind you, not the physical asana practice). Slow down immensely. Between washing and rinsing take moments to just stand there under the water and exist. Enjoy and savor the moments. At the end take 5 more minutes of existing and not actively doing anything. Last step feel invited to turn the temperature down slowly or quickly and decrease the temp of the water. You can do this for a second or until your uncomfortable or past that. (Bonus points for the discomfort, we grow and heal in releasing resistance). Afterwards give yourself a massage. Coconut oil is heavy but works great, sesame oil (not the cooking kind) is a smoother alternative, and lotion is a fine option. Massage the face when you put on moisturizer (basic self facial massage videos can be found anywhere online)
Take 5 deep breaths.
Stretch. Move the body in a way that feels good. Often and whenever you can. Don’t worry about carving out a whole hour, 5 seconds to 5 minutes is great. Move to your breath. Let it lead you. I like yoga with Adrienne on YouTube, 10/10 recommend.
Look at a tree. Watch it move. Bonus points for watching the leaves move. Bonus points if you do it for more than a minute long.
Write down your thoughts, just let em out. See what comes up. No structure or boundaries. Get weird with it.
Jump up and down.
Look into the sunlight in the morning and take a few breaths.
Dance alone. Put on a song you like and groove around.
Tap your face. You can throw in some affirmations if you wanna get crazy.
Clean your space. Find gratitude in that you get to have a space.
Read or learn in any capacity (audio books, videos, podcasts, articles, talk to people who know about the subject) about something you find interesting. Brain and soul health. Bonus points if you talk to someone about what you learned and share. Even more bonus points if you can incorporate it into a routine.
Drink water in the morning. Prepare yourself a waterbottle at night to put by your bedside. Also drink healthy drinks. Drinks have the capacity to deliver lots of nutrients we skip out on. Different types of tea can have health benefits. Orange juice slaps and yay vitamin C. Good for body.
Workout sometimes. No shame when you don’t. Move the body in a way that feels right to you.
Self foot massage.
Gratitude list in the morning. 3 highlights from the day before bed.
Cook yourself a meal or bake or make something. Creation of some kind. Art, food, movement, writing, anything along the lines of expression.
Find what feels good for you.
Then follow that.
